BIWEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEKS OF FEB. 3 AND 10, 2014

1. On Friday, Feb. 7 Cynthia Noble will speak to us Dadaism and Surrealism

2. On Monday, Feb. 10 your thesis statements for your research papers are due. 

3. On Wednesday, Feb. 19th  you will have a TEST on the French Revolution and Napoleon. You will write on the following two questions: 1. How is  Simon Schema's view of the French Revolution in Citizens different from the one found in your text? 2. How did the French Revolution and Napoleon tarnish the  image of Liberalism?

4. On Friday, Feb. 21 Brad Brickner will give us his second music talk. 

5. On Friday, March 14, your second research paper is due. It should be from five to ten pages long and can be a topic of your choice. Again, you should have an original thesis.

The week of Feb. 3

The Long Period: work on the skits

CLASS ONE: we will discuss sections 43 and 44 in Palmer on the French Revolution. HOMEWORK: finish the chapter on the French Revolution.

CLASS TWO: we will discuss the reading. HOMEWORK: please read the handout, Citizens. 

CLASS THREE: we will discuss the reading. HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY: please read sections 47-49 in Palmer AND create a thesis for your second research paper.

CLASS FOUR: Cynthia Noble on Dadaism and Surrealism.

The week of Feb. 10

The Long Period: skirts

CLASS ONE: we will discuss the first part of the chapter on Napoleon. HOMEWORK: finish chapter 10 and the handout on, Napoleon: Destroyer and Preserver of the Revolution.

CLASS TWO: we will discuss the reading. HOMEWORK: we will assign someone to outline the first essay question,  How is  Simon Schema's view of the French Revolution in Citizens different from the one found in your text?

CLASS THREE: we will discuss the first essay question:  HOMEWORK:  we will assign someone to outline the second essay question: How did the French Revolution and Napoleon tarnish image of Liberalism? You should also write the first essay question over the weekend.
